The Erasmus Mundus scholarship program main aim is to increase academic cooperation worldwide.
The Erasmus Mundus scholarship program was shaped on 5 December 2003, with the publication in the Official Journal of the European Union 31 December 2003 but became an official program on 20 January 2004.
Objectives
The Lisbon plan is to develop competition and knowledge-based economy based on high-quality education by the direction of the European Union.
The main aim of its each program which becomes a part of Erasmus Mundus must be:
- To promote higher education of European type.
- To train the skilled graduates and scholars from other parts of the world to get qualifications and experience in the European Union.
- Mutual aid between the institutions of the European Union and third countries.
- To spread the European higher education worldwide.
A course to be recognized and hosted under the Mundus programme, it should be offered by a Consortium of recognized higher education institutions from one of the 27 Member States of the European Union, the EEA-EFTA states or of the candidate countries for accession to the EU. The minimum consortium has three higher education institutions coming from three different eligible countries. Erasmus Mundus Masters Course The minimum duration is one year and maximum is two years.
